Emptying The Dog, Pt17

Funny enough - that dog is never empty :) We took the bus in direction Littlehampton and walked along the coast in direction east.

Folkstone - East Cliff and the Warren Country Park

Close to Folkstone but up the hill and down to the Country Park there is a camp site with a spectacular view of the coast. I just wanted to stay for a night but decided to stay for a second night and listen to the sea at night - and nuthin else :)

Pett Level - The Beach

The beach reaches far and invited me to take walks along the shore.
When the tide is low one can see the remains of an old forrest which grew here 2000 years ago.
I spent hours on the beach, and met strange creatures on my way.

Leaving Seaford

It is time to leave Seaford. I have had weather of all kinds, exposed in the marshes near the large bay and the mighty sea. I was in the midst of nature, woken up by the dawn chorus, going to bed in the early evenings, listening to the wind and rain dripping on my tent. For sure I will miss the sounds of Seaford, even the train nearby :)

A walk to the Seven Sisters

I have had rain in the night, but the morning turned out to be sunny so I decided to go for a walk and watch the Seven Sisters.
On my way I took a look at Martello Tower number 74, nowadays a museum of local history, and some beach huts - can´t get enough of them!

Newhaven

The cycle route number 2 brought me downhill directly into the harbour of Newhaven - lucky me!
This post is mostly about fishing equipment, not about Newhaven. Sorry for that, can´t help it. There were some fabulous examples for english make-do-and-mend, by the way :)

Imposing Cliffs

Still on my way in direction east I left Brighton on Thursday. I left the main road A259 in Saltdean, and found myself on an impressive promenade underneath the cliffs.

Worthing - Pier

Costal resorts became popular in Victorian times where piers were built to extend the promenade. Worthings pier opened on 12. April 1862. It took 9 months to build the pier and it cost 6500 Pound.

The weather is truly giving me compensation for the last year of rain - it is another sunny day here in England. It hasn´t been raining since 15 days :)
We took the bicycle in direction west to the nature reserve West Beach, Littlehampton.

Another sunny day, doggy has to take the trailer for a ride to the sea.

West Mersea

The screams of Common Tern and Oystercatcher woke me up in the morning, I packed my stuff, realised that i had put up my tent in a nature´s reserve, and went in direction of West Mersea, which is the main settlement on Mersea Island. A small town but with at least 4 camp sites. In the harbour are shops selling oyster from oyster beds dating back to the Roman era.
It was a sunny Sunday and loads of people were sitting outside eating and drinking.

I woke up with the sun into a frozen world - I even had ice inside the tent :) But what a beautiful morning!

Emptying Dog, Pt4

It was a sunny day in Angmering, so we took the dog for a walk.
Straight on in directions south to the coast, turn to right and go straight ahead to Littlehampton.
I found loads of beach huts on my way and in the end a fish & chip shop. Yum! :)
