Monday the 25th August turned out to become "the soggiest bank holiday on records" (BBC), but I had come to London in order to visit The Notting Hill Carnival, so I dressed properly in my rain clothes and joined in. As I met my dancing teacher Petra Siekermann, I can proudly say that I have been dancing to the rhytm Tiriba on the carnival :)

London - The River Lea Valley
Close to the City of London and the West End stretches the southern part of the River Lea Valley. From here you can cruise the canal systems, the River Thames, the River Lea and Stort.
It is very central but as silent as if you were on the country side. I took a walk along the towpath on a sunny morning and got friendly with some cats :)

London - The Monument
Actually I wanted to visit the view from St Paul´s Cathedral, but that would have cost me 16 Pound.
Instead of the cathedral I walked further 10 minutes to The Monument where I climbed the 311 steps to the platform. That cost me 4 Pound and the view was great - I even got a certificate that I´ve been there. :)

London - Temple Of Agape
"This temple created by artists Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan is
made up of hundreds of large hand-painted flag-like signs, covered in
words about love, in a riot of bright colours. It provides a place for
celebration and shared thoughts.
Tying into the Agape theme – love of humanity – the temple represents the power of love to conquer hate." (source)
Personally these flags made me think about the hungarian artist Victor Vasarely.

London City
This post is about a walk through London City from Victoria Station to The Monument and back along the River Thames.
On The Bus To London
When going to London I usually take the bus from Stansted Airport to Victoria Station - it is the cheapest way to do it.
This is a collection of "out-of-the-bus-pics" - even with persons this time :P

London - British Museum
On Tuesday the British Museum was evacuated because of fire alarms.
Today, on Saturday there weren´t any complications so I went in to see what to find.
The result is a collection of portraits, don´t ask from which culture, I just didn´t bother. But look at these faces!

By The River Bank
A sunny day, I was decided to visit Tate Modern but started with collecting old pieces of porcelain under the Millenium bridge.
Tate Modern is located in the former Bankside Power Station.
By the way, all London museum are for free.

London - Lit Up
I heard about the christmas decorations downtown. So I went along Oxford Street and Regent Street and caught the lights with my camera.

Already on my walk to Greenwich I had seen these fast river buses on The Thames. I entered one down back to London. Here is a collection of what I went by on my tour :)

London - Royal Observatory
The Royal Observatory has played a big role for astronomy and navigation in former times. It is the place where the prime meridian is located.
