Since watching Time Team, my eyes are searching the ground when walking over the fields in Sussex. So it didn´t take a long until I found a bit of clay, a very orange coloured one, with inclusions and patches of different coloured material. I could even see that it had been worked by man and not by machine. Somebody had soften the edge of a corner with a finger or the thumb.

London - British Museum
On Tuesday the British Museum was evacuated because of fire alarms.
Today, on Saturday there weren´t any complications so I went in to see what to find.
The result is a collection of portraits, don´t ask from which culture, I just didn´t bother. But look at these faces!

By The River Bank
A sunny day, I was decided to visit Tate Modern but started with collecting old pieces of porcelain under the Millenium bridge.
Tate Modern is located in the former Bankside Power Station.
By the way, all London museum are for free.

Crofton Pumping Station
The engines of Crofton Pumping Station were built nearly 200 years ago to supply water to the highest pont of the Kennet & Avon Canal. This is the stretch of water lying 1,25 km to the west which does not have a natural supply of water to keep it full. The nearest supply of water is the small lake on the far side of the canal, Wilton Water. Water flows from there into the canal, under the railway in a culvert and then to the Crofton pumps. The engines and pumps lift it 12 meter into a leat which then flows to the canal summit.
I had luck and met Richard, one of the volunteers working on the station. He walked around with me and explained everything - unfortunately I only understood a small part of it :) ... But I took loads of pics.

Martello Tower, No. 74
The Martello Towers were built in order to protect England against the French. No. 74 is the last one been built. Through the centuries it has been used for several things. It has been a place for roller skating, a bathhouse, or a privat home. Now it has become a museum, run only by volunteers. Never seen soo much oddity in a museum - but very nice :) They have been collecting mostly everything which has been used in the town itself or found in it´s surroundings. Come with me for a trip into the Seafordian past :)

Tintagel
After having survived that storm I wanted to take a watch onto the castle in Tintagel which is connected to the myths of King Arthur.
I stayed there longer then I had thought of as I got "the runs" - as the englishman would say. Hello there John, now I know how it is :)

A trip with the steam train
After Glastonbury I wanted to get back to the sea, so I went over Bridgwater to Williton from where I took the steam train to Minehead.

Glastonbury
Ansgard had told me about The Goddess Festival in Glastonbury, so I went the 6 miles to Glastonbury, found a site close to town and pitched up my tent. I was just ready as Thor and the other gods opend the sky, there was big thunder and lightning, a lot of rain, but later on he went away, and the full moon was to be seen :) Next day was sunny, so I went into town.
