Chichester - Town

Mostly following the long distance cycle route number 2, which runs along the south coast of England, we reached Chichester within a day.
We stayed for the night on a nearby campsite and went for sightseeing on the following day.
... And for shopping as I needed new water tight boots.
I will leave my old ones as rubbish here on the Island :P

Hamburg - Schanzenviertel

Hamburg is not too far away from Bremen, and Floker and I had already long ago decided to make the trip in order to check out the street art scene.
We decided to drive to the quarter Schanzenviertel where we started for our 6-hours lasting walk.
This post offers an impression of houses and sourroundings of that area. The posts following will be full of all kinds of street art :)

Bremen - Böttcherstraße

Another famous attraction close by the Market Square is the street Böttcherstraße.

Bremen - Town Hall

The Town Hall of Bremen is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bremen - Market Square

The most famous place in Bremen is probably the Market Square

Bremen - Schnoor

Coming from east over the Bremer Wallgraben it is not far to some small old streets called Schnoor.
Usually filled to the brim with tourists  I was quite alone at this time of the day :)

Bremen - Sunny Saturday´s Sightseeing

I had a visitor from a far away island and wanted to show the main attractions of the town.
It was early Saturday morning in May, the sun was shining from an incredible blue sky, and the most people were still in bed - Bremen can look quite nice sometimes :)
In this post I will take you for a walk through the backstreets of a quarter called "Das Viertel" to Bremen´s historical places in the city center, over the farmer´s market, through "Die Wallanlagen" back into Das Viertel.
Further four posts will show the main attractions of Bremen. Enjoy!

Bremen - Between "Schauburg" and "Cinema" ...

Sunday afternoon and a walk along Vor Dem Steintor and Ostertorsteinweg, between the two movie-picture theatres "Schauburg" and "Cinema".
It was just the time when the lights already are on but it still isn´t dark. Great time of day for great pics - if there weren´t destroyed trough the upload onto Blogger - they are made brighter during this process :(

Per-Anders Fogelström - Mina Drömmars Stad

Per-Anders Fogelströms Mina Drömmars Stad was one of my favourite books as child. I learned a lot about my hometown Stockholm and the life of labourers it the end of the 18th century.
I am happy to have found a link where I can listen to the story once again, 50 years later ...
Here it is.

From Whitstable to Faversham

After yesterdays desastrous weather I was astonished about the clear blue sky - and very happy :)
I had a nice ride along lonely seaside ressorts and reached in the evening the pretty village Faversham. I found a camp site not far away.
In the evening I realised that I had been exactly half a year on tour. I cooked me a nice meal and topped up the tea with a splash of whisky. The night was beautiful with clear starry sky and a nice big moon - I decided that it was time to go back to London, get my stuff organised there and return to Germany.

Sandwich

As I left Deal I also left the south coast and the Channel.
In Sandwich I had the opportunity to go to a cycle shop. My gears needed to be done. So thanks for the friendly, cheap and fast help!

Deal

I wanted to avoid Dover and its cliffs and Roderick from the camp site in Folkstone had told me about Deal and Walmer, possibly the place where Julius Caesar first arrived in Britain. So I took the train instead of cycling.
The day was grey and cold and I arrived late. Unfortunately the search for a camp site took long time. My borrowed maps are old and former camp sites has often been turned into caravan sites, and they dont like me there.

Rye

From Pett Level to Hastings

I went for a walk along the cliffs and the nature reserve to Hastings. It was pouring down with rain for a while, but stopped just in time for a walk around in Hastings and it´s harbour.

Bristol

In 1138 Bristol was described as "almost the richest city of all the country receiving merchandise by sailing ships from lands near and far". The wool of the Cotswold sheep, woven into fine cloth, was sold to buy wine and oil from Europe.
In the 15th century, merchants were the most important people in the city.
During the 17th and 18th centuries Bristol grew wealthy by trading weapons, textile, iron goods and slaves for tobacco, cocoa and sugar from the West Indies.
